Williamsburg Train Station

Yahoo Map from Williamsburg Transportation Center to Cedars of Williamsburg Bed & Breakfast

Amtrak services the Williamsburg area.  There are two trains from Washington DCs Union Station daily.  They depart Washington at 7:30 AM and 2:30 PM and arrive in Williamsburg at the Williamsburg Transportation Center at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM respectively.

The Williamsburg Transportation Center is located at 468 North Boundary Street directly behind the Municipal Building and the Fire Station. The station is a fine brick building with a covered platform abutting the CSX rail system main track. The Center is located 4 blocks from Colonial Williamsburg. The 5400 square foot station was built in 1935 on 1.6 acres of land as part of the Rockefeller restoration of the Historic Area.

In 2000, the City of Williamsburg purchased the station from Colonial Williamsburg. The architectural group of Guernsey Tingle was hired by the City to renovate and restore the building. The goal was to increase the function and usefulness of the center, while still maintaining its' 1935 character and charm.

The Center has been divided into 3 sections. The Amtrak offices and waiting room are located in the east portion of the building, while the Bus and Car Rental offices and waiting area are new and are located to the west side of the building. Separating the two waiting rooms are the restrooms and a vending area where visitors can grab a quick snack and also pick up visitor information guides.

The Williamsburg Transportation Center is the only center in the state that is a full service transportation center. Companies that operate through the Center are Amtrak, Greyhound and Trailways Bus Lines, Williamsburg Area Transport, Colonial Rent-a-Car, Yellow Cab of Williamsburg, Colonial Cabs of Williamsburg and Williamsburg Taxi Service. The Center provides a lot for long-term parking to the west of the building for passengers that wish to drive themselves to the Center.
