Travel/Fine Living Channel Features Cedars

The Cedars of Williamsburg Bed & Breakfast was proud to host the High Noon Productions’ Production Crew for a one-day shoot in Williamsburg on August 13th. This new show builds upon the HGTV & Travel Channel’s successful show, What You Get for the Money. A new show, What You Get for the Money – Vacations, follows a similar format but focuses on the experience and cost of vacations around the globe.

Every show follows vacationers to three dramatically different destinations, highlighting three completely different vacation experiences. What they have in common, however, is the same price point - be it $1000 or $10,000. At the end of each episode, Fine Living viewers see how vacationers choose to spend their hard earned cash. Special emphasis is placed on how they chose to “save” or “splurge.”

But it’s not all about money - it’s also about the experience. One show follows a family of five that traveled to Moab who will never forget the thrill and accomplishment of mountain biking the world-famous Slickrock Trail, a 9-mile ride through some of southern Utah’s most extreme terrain. The Moab vacation created memories that ultimately brought them closer as a family: blasting through dunes on ATVs, hiking at sunset in Arches National Park, and holding on for dear life as they crashed through Class 4 rapids on the Colorado. True to the Fine Living brand, What You Get for the Money – Vacations provides inspirational and practical information for time-starved viewers. Most importantly, all these vacations are achievable, attainable and relevant to Fine Living viewers.

The Williamsburg segment will follow a young couple’s experiences at Jamestown, Busch Gardens, a romantic walk on William & Mary’s Crim Dell Bridge, and an evening’s stay at the Cedars of Williamsburg Bed and Breakfast, enjoying the Cedars’ ultimate “Romance Package” with chilled wine, chocolates, flowers, massages and picture mementos. The segment will conclude with a wonderfully romantic dinner for two at the Whitehall Restaurant; all part of the package.

Our press release stated, “We were very excited about the opportunity when High Noon Productions contacted us about their interest in a Williamsburg vacation segment for their new show” said Grace & Bob Tubbs, owners of The Cedars. “They asked us to recommend several “cute couples” from our guests. After a phone interview, Meg and her boyfriend, Robbie previous Cedars guests from Virginia Beach, were selected and are wonderful representatives enjoying a wonderfully romantic Williamsburg experience. Our approach to hosting guests has always been to stimulate and tantalize the senses. The better the experience, the sooner people will return to build on those memorable experiences. In addition, the entire community has been wonderfully responsive and helpful in planning and executing the show segment,” Tubbs added.

The Fine Living series is currently available in cable format in 38 million homes (and growing!). The audience has an average income above $75K and over-index of $150K (3rd in affluence to CNBC and The Golf Channel), has graduated college, and is 65% women. Their audience has money, but is starved for time. The goal of Fine Living is to convey information to their affluent, educated viewers and show them how to get the most experience for their money.
